Sycamore have been learning all about the Easter story and what the 'Ressurection' means to Christians. They have been learning all about the meaning of the Easter egg and how it symbolises new life. The pupils have been lucky enough to have a visit from Reverend Diane from Mendham Church and the children participated in a role play drama to help them understand the story.

Mendham Primary School is 150 years old! We celebrated with an open day showcasing photos and memorabilia from years gone by. Through the day we saw visitors who had previously worked at or attended the school as children themselves alongside current school staff and pupils. The highlight of the celebration was hearing stories from the past about the school and seeing old friends reunited and sharing stories. Thankyou to office manager Julie Rogers for planning and organising an amazing event. Commemorative tea towels and mugs are still available to purchase from the school office.

On Friday we celebrated Easter at Mendham Church with community and families watching. We heard poems and prayers written by Pine and Juniper classes, the Easter story was told by Sycamore and Seedlings finished off proceedings singing 'Spring Chicken'. The children were amazing and completed their performances with confidence.

Pine Class visited the church last week where Rev'd Diane had set up a living history walk about Mendham 150 years ago. We learnt all about the legacy of Sir Alfred Munnings and how life was different then.

Join us for the last film club of the Spring term and watch Ralph breaks the Internet!! as Ralph and Vanellope venture INTO the internet. Popcorn available and booking essential please via Arbor.

Recently, Sycamore Class became Victorian children for the day attending Great Cressingham Victorian School. They practised handwritng on slates. The girls practised their stitching whilst the boys produced still life drawings. At break time they played a variety of Victorian games: spinning tops, hoops , marbles and skittles.

On Friday our Junior Road Safety Officers introduced this weeks initiative to try to walk that little bit further or cycle to school as we join the Big Walk and Cycle to school week. Each morning we will record who has tried to make a difference and upload our results to the national scheme. Well done Isla and Danniel for presenting a wonderful assembly to the school. #BigWalkAndWheel

Wish all our Mum's a Happy Mother's Day. On Friday we welcomed Mother's into school to join their children for a Mother's day tea and cake. Thank you to everyone who came along.
