Thank you for visiting our website. We hope the information available here will be useful to existing parents and carers, and to those who are looking to bring their children to Mendham Primary School and Nursery.

Forest Friends (Key stage 2) have begun their outdoor learning adventure. After a snowy session last week to a rather wet one this week the children have shown great resilience. This half term we are looking at campfire safety, the science around how a fire burns( fire triangle), the types of structures that can be laid, and hopefully have a successful fire. This afternoon the children split into small groups and participated in forming a structure from information we had looked at. The children decided they wanted to try a teepee or log cabin. The children constructed some excellent structures, teepee being the most popular.

This half term Nature Explorers will be finding out about campfire safety, what equipment is needed, how we behave and move around the campfire. The children will incorporate some crafts using wood/sticks and share some stories and songs. This afternoon the children were going to make a story stick, but they were too wet! So instead, they created a story board. The children put their knot skills into action. They collected their treasure, weaving it into the story board. We then sat and shared a story about the items we found. Some brilliant stories were formed about the adventures the nature went on.
